What is Study Lab?
Study Lab is for all the young people who take school and athletics seriously. Our tutors volunteer their time to help kids in the Mizuno VBC community with their school work and studies. We recognize that being a club volleyball player requires a lot of commitment, and that is why we created Study Lab: a flexible and convenient tutoring service right in the heart of our club, The Mac. We are located in the Study Room (what used to be the Coach's Room) and all our reservations are handled online.
A Message From Chloe
Study Lab started out with my teammates recognizing and teasing me for being the most studious person on the team. I would often receive requests for help with homework. During my first U16 tournament, a teammate came up to me and asked me for help with math even though she didn't know me that well. I'm pretty sure she stereotyped me for being good at math because I was Asian- but I was incredibly flattered that she thought I would be well acquainted enough with the subject to teach her. There more I got requests, the more I realized there was a niche for a tutoring program at club. And thus, Study Lab became the brainchild of my teammates' requests for help.
I'm so thankful for the support that Study Lab has been receiving and I hope this program becomes a tool for every Athlete to use for success in school and beyond.
